Privacy Policy

This explains what Peak Vane collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how to get it deleted. It is written to be read rather than skimmed past.
Who we are
Peak Vane is an SEO content tool. You connect a website, and we find keyword opportunities, plan articles, write them, and publish them to your site. This policy covers peakvane.com and the application at app.peakvane.com. Questions go to [email protected].
What we collect
- Your account. Name, email address, and a profile picture if your sign-in provider supplies one. If you sign in with a password we store a hash of it, never the password. If you use a passkey we store its public key, which cannot be used to impersonate you.
- Sessions. The IP address and browser user-agent of each active session, so you can see and revoke your own sessions from the account page.
- Your sites and settings. The domains you add, the tone and language settings you choose, and the topics you seed.
- Search Console data, only if you connect it. The queries, impressions, clicks and positions Google reports for your own property. We request read-only access, and we never write to your Search Console.
- Content we generate. Keywords, plans, drafts, images, and the cost of producing them.
- Publishing credentials, if you set them up. Stored encrypted, and used only to publish to the endpoint you configured.
- Access requests. If you ask for access, the name, email, site and message you send us.
We do not use advertising trackers, we do not sell data, and we do not build profiles of you for anyone else’s benefit.
Sites we visit
To do its job the tool fetches publicly available pages from the site you connected and from competitor sites you name. It identifies itself as peakvane-bot and honours robots.txt. It reads what any visitor could read, and never attempts to reach anything behind a login.
Who we share it with
Only the services needed to run the product, and only what each one needs to do its part:
- Google — sign-in, and Search Console data if you connect it.
- GitHub — sign-in, if you choose it.
- OpenAI and Anthropic — the article topic, outline and text we ask them to write or improve. Your account details are not sent.
- Serper — search queries used to research a topic.
- Cloudflare — image storage, and Turnstile on our request form to keep bots out.
- Resend — sending email, including access requests.
- Neon (database) and Vercel (hosting) — where the application and its data actually live.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it. If Peak Vane is ever sold or merged, data may transfer with it, and we will say so before that takes effect.
How long we keep it
Account and site data stays until you delete it or close your account. Access requests are kept while we are considering them and for a reasonable period after. Deleting your account removes your sites, settings, keywords, articles and stored credentials. Backups are overwritten on their own schedule, so deleted data can persist in backups for a short period after removal.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and you can withdraw a connected integration at any time from the site’s settings page. Disconnecting Search Console revokes our access immediately. Email [email protected] and we will action it. If you are in the UK or EU you also have the right to complain to your data protection regulator.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit, integration credentials are encrypted at rest, and session cookies are restricted to our own domain. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell affected users promptly if a breach ever puts their data at risk.
Children
Peak Vane is a business tool and is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top, and tell account holders by email when the change is a significant one.
